Dual Ovenable Board Trays

1. PET Trays

   PET (Polyethylene tetraphalate) This is the most common barrier coating. It is usually applied by extrusion (40 grams per square metre). PET provides excellent barrier properties to water, grease and heat and is available clear, coloured white and black. PET lined trays can be recycled in the correct conditions and the board fibre is compostable.

2. PLA Trays

   PLA (Polylactic acid) Manufactured from corn starch PLA can be extruded onto paperboard. PLA provides good water and grease resistance properties but poor heat resistance. PLA lined board can be recycled and is compostable.

3. Dispersion Coatings

   There are a number of dispersion coatings available that provide good barrier properties against water, water vapour, grease and heat. Board with dispersion coatings is recyclable and compostable. Heat sealing is possible but customer trials are recommended.

4. Alternative Laminates

   Paperboard products are currently undergoing extensive trialling of alternative laminates that provide all the required barrier properties, are recyclable and compostable. Please call 01244 532312 for more information.
